Privacy Policy

Systa (“the app”) is an offline-first application for learning system design, available for Android and iOS. This policy explains what data each version handles. Where the two differ, the section says so.
Summary
Systa collects no personal data of its own. The app works offline, and everything you do — progress, streaks, quiz scores, settings — is stored only on your device.
- iOS: no ads, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device. The only network activity is the App Store handling Pro purchases.
- Android: the free version shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, and the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase; both are described below. Purchasing the Pro unlock removes all ads: the ads SDK is then never started and no ad request is ever made.
Data stored on your device
The app saves the following locally (Android DataStore / app storage on Android, UserDefaults on iOS) and never sends it anywhere:
- Learning progress, quiz scores, streaks, and achievements
- Flashcard review schedules, interview-practice self-ratings, case studies marked as read, and your playground designs
- App settings (theme, accent color, font, text size, language)
- Your Pro status (whether you have an active Pro plan)
This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
Purchases
Systa offers a “Pro” upgrade that unlocks all content:
- Android: through Google Play Billing, as either a yearly auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in Google Play. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- iOS: through Apple’s App Store, as either a yearly auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple Account settings. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Payments are processed entirely by Google Play or Apple — the app never sees or stores your payment details. Your purchase status is provided by the store and cached locally so the app works offline.
Advertising (Android only)
The iOS version shows no ads and contains no advertising SDK.
On Android, the free version of Systa shows ads through Google AdMob:
- A rewarded ad you can choose to watch in exchange for an extra design-playground run or 24 hours of access to one locked lesson, simulator, case study, or flashcard deck. It is never shown unless you tap to watch it.
- An occasional interstitial ad shown after you finish a quiz, at a limited frequency.
There are no ads inside lessons, simulators, or the paywall, and no banner ads anywhere.
To serve ads, Google AdMob may collect and process device and usage information, including your device’s advertising ID (AD_ID), IP address, and general ad interaction data. This data is handled by Google, not by Systa — the app itself receives no personal data from AdMob. See:
Your choices
- In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, Systa shows a Google-provided consent form before requesting ads, and an “Ad privacy settings” entry in Appearance lets you change your choice at any time.
- Android’s system setting Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you delete or opt out of your advertising ID on any device.
- Buying the Pro unlock disables ads entirely.
Analytics (Android only)
The iOS version contains no analytics SDK and measures nothing.
On Android, Systa uses Google Analytics for Firebase to measure how the app is used in aggregate — how many people open it, which screens they reach, and whether they come back. It is also what lets Google report ad revenue per user back to us, so we can tell whether the free tier pays for itself.
Firebase Analytics automatically collects app usage events (app opens, screen views, session length), a randomly generated app instance ID, device model, OS version, country, and your device’s advertising ID (AD_ID). It does not collect your name, email, or any account identity, because Systa has no accounts. Lesson answers, quiz responses, notes, and playground designs are not sent anywhere — they stay on your device.
Unlike ads, analytics runs for both free and Pro users. Buying Pro removes ads; it does not switch off usage measurement.
- Google’s Privacy Policy
- Android’s Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you delete or opt out of your advertising ID, which limits what Google can associate with this app.
Notifications
With your permission, the app may schedule local reminder notifications to help you keep your learning streak. These are generated on your device. No notification data leaves your device, and no push service is used.
Data we do not collect
- No accounts, sign-in, names, or email addresses
- No lesson answers, quiz responses, notes, or playground designs — none of your learning content ever leaves your device
- No location, contacts, or photos
- No personal data collected by Systa itself. On iOS, nothing is collected by anyone. On Android, Google collects ad data for free users (see “Advertising”) and aggregate usage data for everyone (see “Analytics”).
Children
Systa is a general-audience educational app and is not directed at children under 13. It is not marked as a child-directed app, and its Android ads are not served under Google’s child-directed treatment. Systa itself collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new “Last updated” date.
